Frequently Asked Registration Questions

If you don’t see your specific question below, please don’t hesitate contact Pat Helmstetter, TJAY Soccer President  at 240.344.3998 (leave message) or at [email protected]

When is registration?
Registration for the spring soccer season opens in late November and the team practices begins in mid to late March.

Registration for fall soccer opens in late June and the team practices begins in mid to late August.

You may register your player anytime, but know that teams fill up and all registrations are on a first come/first serve basis so it is recommended to register early to ensure a roster spot.

How old do you have to be to play with TJAY Soccer Club?
4 years old.

When do players play?
TJAY soccer is a two season sport played in the fall, running from the end of August to the beginning of November, and spring, running from late March to early June.

How do we register?
You can register quickly and easily online under the Registration tab of our website. You may also complete and mail in a paper form to TJAY Soccer, P.O. Box 1591, Frederick, MD 21702.

Unfortunately, we cannot register your player over the phone.

Visit the Registration Information page for even more information.

What methods of payment do you accept?
We accept Visa and MasterCard credit cards.   We also accept personal checks and cash.  We pretty much accept it all, but we can’t accept the deed on your house, a car, soccer equipment, or children left at practice as a form of payment.

Do girls and boys play on the same team?
We have coed teams in every age group.  We also offer all girl teams in most age groups.

How do I know what age group my child is in?
We have this handy age group chart to determine your player’s age group!

My player’s birthday puts them in an age group below their grade level. Can I sign them up to play with their classmates?
Players are able to play in age groups above their age, but not below. This is called “playing up.” Please indicate the desire to “play up” with their classmates when registering your child. We will do our best to accommodate players in this situation, but please understand we may determine it more appropriate for your player to play in the designated age group.

Can I request a special team?
Why, yes you may!  We will do our best to place your child according to your request. However, we cannot guarantee special placement. The best way to ensure your child plays on the team you want is to register early.

My player wants to return to the same team, how can I make certain this will happen?
Early registration is the best way to get on any specific team, as placements are handled by order of registration. So if you want to guarantee that you return to the same team, please register early in the registration period.

Players who register late are not guaranteed to return to their team. If you register after the deadline, it is VERY possible that you will lose your spot to a new player. Players who take a season off are not guaranteed their spot back.

Is the uniform included in the registration fees?
No, uniforms must be ordered separately and are required at games. And what’s a team without a uniform? Check out our uniforms page to learn more.
