Mission Statement

Founded in 1985, Thomas Johnson Area Youth (TJAY) Soccer is a community based, all-volunteer league committed to offering children an affordable place to play soccer in their own community.   We have teams available for players of all skill levels from ages 4 to 18.

Core Values

To provide quality coaching that engages, challenges and inspires young athletes, regardless of previous experience, to reach their highest level in the sport of soccer;

To provide the best possible facilities where talented young soccer players can access programming that allows them to enjoy the sport, to mature and reach their full potential;

To fulfill civic responsibility by actively participating in community partnerships and activities;

To encourage and provide support allowing our athletes to achieve academic success;

To provide a pathway open to all young soccer players who wish to participate, allowing them to reach their full potential through identification, education, and competition;

To provide an environment where young soccer players build character through the development of important life skills such as time management, responsibility, resilience, sportsmanship, work ethic and teamwork;

To provide an environment where open honest communication between staff, players and parents is encouraged;

To provide a structure and environment where winning is important but player development is paramount;

TJAY SOCCER CLUB IN THE COMMUNITY

TJAY Soccer Club takes its role as a member of the community very seriously.  A variety of TAY Soccer Club programs contribute significantly to the quality of life for all citizens of Frederick County.  The TJAY Soccer Club provides services on an equal-access basis to all residents of Frederick County.

RECREATIONAL SERVICES FOR FREDERICK COUNTY YOUTH

Every year, the TJAY Soccer Club provides soccer participation opportunities for Frederick County youth.  The TJAY Soccer Club is one of the largest youth sports organization in Frederick County and is committed to provide playing opportunities for all youth in the County, regardless of age, location, income, ethnicity, religion, or physical ability.

NEED-BASED FINANCIAL AID FOR FREDERICK COUNTY YOUTH WITH FINANCIAL NEED

The TJAY Soccer Club has an aggressive financial aid program, designed to ensure that all children are able to participate in recreational programs without regard to ability to pay. The TJAY Soccer Club provides more need-based financial aid to Frederick County youths, enabling these children to participate in recreational programs that they may otherwise not be able to.

TJAY CLUB FAMILIES SUPPORT FREDERICK COUNTY FOOD BANKS

Twice each year, TJAY’s Opening Day Event provides our families an opportunity to support the underprivileged through donations to community food banks.  Each season on Opening Day of the Frederick County Youth Soccer League (“FCYSL”), we collect food donations at our home fields at Monocacy Middle School where our teams play; at the end of the day, these donations are taken to the Community Action Agency’s FoodBank in Frederick for distribution to Frederick County’s neediest families.  The generosity of TJAY’s families is an essential resource for the local food bank.
